Freedom-fighters for Independence of India:
Many of the great freedom fighters stood up and fought against the British people for bringing Independence for India. The Britishers ruled over our Country for a long time. But many of the fighters gave their life for bringing freedom to India. They are the true for freedom fighters for India. Many of the people fought equally hard and who scarified they life for our country. All the freedom fighters want to see every citizen of India as an Independent. As citizens of this country, we should know about such great people who fought for us. Now we can see about some of the freedom fighters of India.
1. Potti Sreeramulu:
He was a great devote of Mahatma Gandhi. After seeing his dedication towards human purposes and the nation, Gandhiji once said: “If only I have eleven more followers like Sreeramulu, I will win freedom in a year.” Even Gandhiji was very happy about Sreeramulu on his effort for freedom fight.
2. Alluri Seetharamaraju:
During the period of 1922–24, where tribal leaders and other sympathizers fought against the British rulers. Alluri Seetharamaraju was named to as “Man yam Veerudu” (Hero of the Jungles) by the local people. He was born in a prosperous Kshatriya family in Andhra Pradesh, he lots of effort for the freedom struggle. He saved tribal people in the Agency areas, who were being harassed by British officials under the Forest Act; he was really one of the greatest persons who fought for freedom.
3. Pingali venkayya:
He was a great follower of Mahatma Gandhi and he was also known as Diamond Venkayya for his knowledge on diamond mining. He was mastery in geology, agriculture and he was also known as educationalist. The national flag of India was designed by him, which was first modified and it was adopted by Indian National Congress and later modified again to be the national flag of India.
4. Tippu Sulthan:
Tipu Sulthan who was known as Tiger of Mysore, he adopted this animal as symbol of his rule. He will always be remembered as one of the most powerful rulers India ever had. In early age, he was exposed to politics and military by his father and that helped him to grow into the most influential leader of the country. He was great freedom fighter who gave his life for the Independence. After the death of Tipu Sultan, the British forces took away the sword used by him. The irony is that the ring he owned reads “Ram” and Sultan hated Hindu religion. Both the leftovers of Tipu Sultan were displayed in the British Museum till 2004 after which Vijay Malaya bought the sword of Tipu Sultan sold by the British in auction.
5. Sarojini Naidu:
Sarojini Naidu was remembered as the Nightingale of India, poet and social activist Sarojini Naidu made lot of significant contributions during the independence struggle of India. She was the first woman to be elected as the governor of an Indian state and the Indian National Congress. She traveled across different states for giving speeches on social welfare and her poetry became the medium of sending out the message of independence. Many of the women are inspired by this great freedom fighter.
There are so many others freedom fighters like Mahatma Gandhiji who was known as ‘Jathipitha’ of our country and some other famous freedom fighters like Dr. Ambedkar, Sarda Vallabhai Patel, Mangal Pandey, Jawaharlal Nehru, Dr Rajendra Prasad, and Rani Lakshmi Bai….etc. Let us make an effort to recognize our freedom fighters and remember their contributions. A few other names that we would like to add to the list include Kanak Lata Barua, Kushal Konwar, Piyali Phukan, Veerangana Jhankar Bai, Acharya N. G. Ranga, K. Kelappan, among so many others.
